My Personal Journey

My life is marked by transitions. The biggest of which was as an immigrant to Canada from Taiwan in my teens. During this transition, I navigated trying to find belonging in a culture that had a very different set of values from what I was used to growing up. In the process, I worked through self-doubt and low self-esteem both from experiences of exclusion and internalized racism. In my adulthood, I also navigated two major career transitions. Though these transitions were guided by a quest for meaning and purpose, they were oftentimes filled with uncertainty and senses of inadequacy and illegitimacy. These experiences have made me realize the importance of inner work. After years of personal work, I have come to a place of self-understanding and acceptance. I believe though that this is a lifelong journey— to be able to truly find home within ourselves.

Education and Training

I completed my counsellor training at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from UBC. During my masters, I also completed a 2-month summer program in Social and Cultural Psychiatry at McGill University.

I have additional training in trauma-informed practices, trauma modalities such as Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, and substance use-focused trainings.
